Boats, Bikes, Vans and us
Light-hearted tales from narrowboats, Dutch barges, E-bikes and two vastly different campers
I live in Lancashire with wife Jan. I began to chronicle our travels in 2005 while writing for a canal magazine. From the seed of those articles grew my three 'At Large' boating books. They've created a huge warm memory bank on which we can draw during long winter evenings and will continue to do so into our rocking-chair years. Magical times.
Narrowboats in the UK, then our Barge in The Netherlands, Belgium and France. Our boating days came to an end in 2015. My new challenge is an e-bike. Even lifting it onto the cycle rack is a challenge - heavy damn thing! I've written three cycling books in which the bike is joined by a campervan. However, to mix metaphors, it’s not all been plain sailing. ‘Ordeals on Wheels’ sums it up.
I've also written three books based in the Lancashire town where I live, the first of which is called The Boro. Then four novels, including Operation Vegetable, based, as you may guess, on a marina! There they are below.
